The Proposal to Natalie Carlson from Andy Borgmann
THE PROPOSAL STORY - It was the spring of my Junior year of High School that I first got an idea of how I
wanted to propose. I of course didn't know all the details, logistics, and destinations.
But I knew that I wanted to propose by taking my (hopefully) fiance-to-be on a surprise
trip that she knew nothing about. Originally I thought I would get permission from her boss so she could miss work
and then I would tell her we were going to dinner by the airport - instead, driving up to the airport and handing her a suitcase.
But even that fell into place better than I could have hoped. On my 30th birthday this year I booked tickets for
Natalie and I to go to Stockholm, Sweden over Thanksgiving break. Stockholm? Yeah, we have gotten that a lot in the last few days.
Natalie and I both have Swedish backgrounds and even though I had the concept of how I wanted to propose for years, it wasn't until I knew her
that I knew where to go.
It had some road blocks for sure. My passport renewal got stolen out of the mail. Natalie got sick the day before we were suppose to leave (keep in mind she didn't know she was leaving). Just moments I take God saying, "trust me." But all in all, the surprise went off better than I would have hoped.
I of course asked her dad for permission, but I didn't tell him what we were doing. Her family had no idea. My family - many of which were coming to Atlanta for Thanksgiving to see us - had no idea. Nobody knew. I arranged a Town Car to pick my mom, sister and brother-in-law up from the airport. I packed Natalie's bag for her. Sent an email to my family with a heads up that we weren't going to be there and instructions on how to find the Town Car. And headed for the airport.
The rest, well, it is pretty much in the video. But the short of it is: she said yes!

Thanks to Canaan Smith for his song "We Got Us" and Google Earth for the footage.
And of course a special thanks to Natalie for saying yes!
